Frequently Asked Questions

How does the process look like from placing my order to the finished instrument?

After receiving and confirming your order, we will contact you as soon as possible to clarify the last details of your instrument via email.

As soon as the building process starts, we try to keep you informed with small workshop updates and pictures until the instrument is finished. This way you should be best informed about the whole building process until the point where the shipment starts.

Why is there no Mahogany, Ebony, Black Limba, …?

We like to think outside the box, especially when it comes to wood selection, and in doing so we continuously discover that Europe and North America already provide incredibly great woods that are perfectly suited for making instruments. At the same time, this gives us the opportunity to avoid tropical woods such as Mahagony, Ebony, Rosewood, etc. as much as possible, as many of them are already considered endangered or highly endangered species.

However, should this occur, we make sure that the woods used come from sustainable sources and are FSC certified.

Is it possible to get a custom fretboard inlay?

Sure! To do this, please select the option "Custom Inlay" in the order form. After ordering, you can send us your desired inlay as a so-called vector image (.svg).

Should this not be possible, e.g. because you have a certain idea or drawing in mind or simply because you cannot create vector images, we can do this for you if necessary. Please note that depending on the size and complexity of the image, this may result in additional costs.

Can I change the specifications after submitting my order?

Major changes such as body shape or number of strings are usually only possible up to 4 weeks after submitting your order. Smaller changes like pickups, tuners, etc. can be changed until the start of the build of your instrument at the latest. Please keep in mind that changes, depending on availability, can delay the completion of your instrument.

My circumstances have changed, can I cancel my order?

After receiving your down payment, you have 14 days to inform us about the cancellation of your order. Should you wish to cancel your order after this period, your deposit will, unfortunately, be lost.

What happens if you do not receive the final payment for the ordered instrument?

If the case unfortunately happens and we do not receive the final payment for the instrument in a given period and after repeated notices, we reserve the right to resell the instrument in our store. Deposits that have been made until then are unfortunately lost.

How does the payment work and what payment options do I have?

We generally prefer PayPal because it is easy to use and offers several ways to pay including the possibility to pay in rates.

Once we have received and reviewed your order, we will send you a request for a down payment via PayPal. As soon as your guitar is finished and ready for shipment, we will contact you again for the final payment.

Is it possible to pay in rates?

We do not directly offer the possibility to pay orders in rates. However, it is possible to pay both the down payment and the final payment in rates using the PayPal payment options. Please keep in mind that this may vary depending on your country.

Can I become a Kallisto Guitar artist?

If you are interested in becoming a Kallisto artist, you can send us a request through our contact form. Please include some information about yourself, such as your band, youtube, or social media profiles. After a review, we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Since we are a small manufacturer, we can't give away the guitars for free. However, we do offer attractive discounts for Kallisto artists.
